Is it worth it to watch Knock at the Cabin? ›

Night Shyamalan's Knock at the Cabin is a solid concept and is filled with thrilling suspense, however I just felt that there was something missing. The acting was particularly good with some breakout performances from Ben Aldridge and Kristen Cui.

Violence is intense: There are killings, bloody wounds, blood seeping through clothing, guns and shooting, a character slicing their own neck, fighting, bludgeoning with weapons, a hate crime, terrifying news footage, a concussion, and more.

While "Knock at the Cabin" is not like some slasher movies with loads of language, graphic violence, grotesque blood and guts, I have to let you know this is an R-rated movie through and through.

But, as I've said before about a Shyamalan movie, Knock at the Cabin is an overlong first act, no middle act, and then a rushed and unconvincing finale. This is not acceptable in a movie. Or, if it's going to be, it has to be a helluva lot more…

Knock at the Cabin is the latest of Shyamalan's output- and that alone probably set off some red flags for folks. While we like to pretend the dude's had a comeback, it feels more apt to say he's just got less obviously terrible; less anything better and more than anything a bit more dull than outright awful.

While the Knock at the Cabin ending in the movie was about sacrificing oneself for the greater good, the book was about true love surviving. One problem with the movie is that it took an LGBTQ+ couple and made them the focus of the story only for them to have to end their relationship.

M. Night Shyamalan's Knock at the Cabin (now streaming on Peaco*ck) and Drew Goddard's The Cabin in the Woods are radically different movies, but they're also variations on the same idea. Yes, both are mystery-driven thrillers that hide big reveals behind familiar horror genres.
